The Northern Network meeting of the Movement for reform Judaism took place on Sunday in Darlington for the very first time. The following message has been received from Sarita Robinson, the Northern Communities Partner for the MRJ; “Thank you so much for your hospitality, that lunch was incredible and we really appreciated the effort you had gone to. The shul looks lovely”.
The meeting was very well attended with about 18 people being present including representatives from as far afield as Blackpool, Sheffield and Newcastle. DHC was very well represented by 7 people including our rabbi, president, chair and a trustee.
Under the expert hand of the DHC social secretary Estelle, a delicious 3 course meal was served to all attending. They very generously donated towards the costs of the meal which meant that the outlay was more than easily covered resulting in a profit for DHC funds.
Thank you to all DHC members who came to act as hosts and especially to Estelle for organising and cooking, to Martin Craster who was a great help with the serving and clearing up and of course to Shelley who made a stunning cheesecake.
All the visitors enjoyed looking round and were impressed with our synagogue.
