In the minutes of a DHC Committee meeting held on Dec 10th 1916 referenceis made to renting Rooms from a Mr Beal for the purpose of using them as a synagogue. Here is what Harold Pollins has discovered about Mr Beal.
“John Beal of 25 Archer Street? I looked up all men named Beal at the 1911 Census and he seemed to be the only likely one – assuming he was still there in 1916.”
